SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Independent School District has announced new campus leadership appointments for the 2026-27 school year.
Colton Curtis will become principal at Lake View High School. Curtis returns to the campus after serving as principal of McGill Elementary School for the past four years. He previously worked as an assistant principal at Central High School and as a teacher and coach at Lake View High School. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Angelo State University.
Zachary Ramirez, who served as Lake View High School principal for the past six years, was named principal of the district’s DAEP and PAYS campus. Ramirez has 21 years of experience in the district. He previously served as principal at Goliad Elementary School and as a teacher at Lincoln Middle School. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Angelo State University.
Dr. Nikki Parker will serve as associate principal at Lake View High School. She previously was the district’s director of secondary curriculum and instruction and academic data. Parker has served as an instructional coach at Glenn Middle School and joined the district in 2020. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Colorado State University, a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix and a doctorate in education from Capella University.
Brooke Kalnbach was named principal at McGill Elementary School. With nearly 25 years of experience, all in San Angelo ISD, she most recently served as director of elementary curriculum and instruction and previously as principal at Austin Elementary School. She also taught and served as an instructional coach at Lamar and Reagan elementaries. Kalnbach holds a bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University and a master’s in educational leadership from Lamar University.
Julie Key will be principal at Bowie Elementary School. She steps up from assistant principal at Bonham Elementary School, where she spent 29 years as a teacher, instructional coach and administrator. Key retired in 2020, taught fifth-grade science in Ector County ISD from 2023 to 2025 and returned to San Angelo last year. She graduated from Angelo State University in 1991.
Catalina Peterson was named principal at Fannin Elementary School. She has served as assistant principal at the campus for the past two years. Previously, she worked as an emergent bilingual interventionist, LPAC coordinator and teacher at Bradford Elementary School. Peterson has nearly 10 years of experience in education and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Angelo State University.
Kimberly Spurgers was named interim principal at Bonham Elementary School while the district searches for a permanent leader. She most recently served as director of district behavior support and previously was principal at San Jacinto and Holiman elementaries. Spurgers has nearly 25 years of experience in San Angelo ISD and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Angelo State University.
The changes take effect after the conclusion of the current school year.
