West Texas Legislative Summit to Tackle Rural Health, Nuclear Energy, AI and More

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Rural health systems, nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, data centers and the state’s energy grid are among the key topics set for discussion at the 22nd annual West Texas Legislative Summit. 

The event, themed “West Texas Horizon: Innovating for Opportunities, Grounded in Stewardship,” will bring together elected officials, business leaders and community representatives from across the region to address shared legislative priorities. It is hosted by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce with honorary co-hosts Sen. Charles Perry and Rep. Drew Darby. 

The summit is scheduled for Aug. 5-6 and split between two events. A networking Summit Soiree for sponsors, panelists and special guests will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Cactus Hotel, 36 E. Twohig Ave.

The legislative summit itself runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Aug. 6 at the CJ Davidson Conference Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive, on the Angelo State University campus. 

Panel discussions will cover:

  • Rural Health Systems in West Texas
  • Nuclear Energy and the Texas Power Landscape
  • Digital Infrastructure, Energy, and Water Resources in West Texas
  • Exploring AI, Data Centers, and the Texas Energy Grid
  • Guiding Local Energy and Data Operations

The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce describes the summit as an award-winning forum that brings together hundreds of elected officials and business professionals from throughout West Texas. 

Registration opened April 23 and closes at 5 p.m. July 23. Early-bird rates through 5 p.m. June 1 are:

  • Summit package (Soiree and legislative summit): $225
  • Summit only: $160
  • Soiree only: $110

General registration rates from 5:01 p.m. June 1 through July 23 are:

  • Summit package: $275
  • Summit only: $190
  • Soiree only: $140
