SAN ANGELO, TX — PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans has opened its first San Angelo location at 2902 S. Bryant Blvd. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, bringing its beignets, cold brew, and Southern-style hospitality to West Texas.
Owners Heather and Ryan Suiter, who relocated from Midland-Odessa about 10 years ago, said their decision to move to San Angelo came from a love of the lake, the nature, and the slower pace.
"We're incredibly delighted to establish PJ's Coffee in the San Angelo community," Heather said. "San Angelo isn't just getting another coffee shop— it's getting the soul of New Orleans and Southern hospitality in a cup. With signature flavors, a focus on small-batch roasting and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, we aim to offer a special and unique coffee experience for everyone in the community."
The 1,500-square-foot coffee shop is located in the Dollar Tree Plaza, one block north of Walmart and south of the Pedestrian Bridge. The soft opening is taking place today, Oct. 29, followed by a grand opening and ribbon cutting with the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce in the coming weeks.
The café will serve a range of espresso drinks, cold brews, and specialty beverages such as the Granita — a smooth, crystalline coffee-slush unique to PJ’s. Food options include beignets, croissants, muffins, cake balls, oatmeal, egg bites, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch combos with sandwiches, chips, and a drink. The beignets, a signature New Orleans favorite, pair well with PJ’s Original Cold Brew or the classic Café Au Lait for dunking.
For opening day, PJ’s Coffee will offer free beignets with any purchase while supplies last, and a 20% discount for veterans, healthcare workers, teachers, and first responders. During the grand opening week, all guests can enjoy buy one, get one free on all small, medium, and large drinks.
The Suiters said the project began in 2021 but experienced multiple contractor-related delays. They credited the City of San Angelo and their landlord for supporting the build-out process.
"The city was actually really helpful and really smooth," Ryan said, dispelling rumors that the delay was caused by permitting issues.
PJ’s Coffee currently employs 21 staff members, with potential for additional hires depending on demand. The Suiters said they plan to open two more PJ’s Coffee locations in West Texas, including another in San Angelo.
Founded in 1978 in New Orleans, PJ’s Coffee now operates more than 185 stores nationwide. Its cold brew process, developed by founder Phyllis Jordan, steeps beans for 24 hours to create a smoother, less acidic flavor.
San Angelo's newest coffee shop will operate Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The business offers catering, drive-thru service, and online and mobile ordering via its app.
