ABILENE, TX — The Concho Valley had a handful of top 10 showings at the Texas High School Rodeo Association State Finals in Abilene last week — including a third-place finish by San Angelo's Cash Sellman in saddle bronc.
Sellman’s score of 51.5 earned him a coveted spot in the top four to punch his ticket to the national finals July 19-25 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
It’s the latest accomplishment for Sellman, a rising star in the rodeo world who won the senior saddle bronc riding championship last year at the Junior National Finals Rodeo. He was also the Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association's 2025 Saddle Bronc Rookie of the Year.
Other highlights from last week included Brady’s Jaspur Farris, who was second place in bareback bronc with a score of 51, and Sterling City’s Kaylyn Frizzell, who was fourth in girls cutting with a score of 39.5.
The other top 10 showings in our area came from Rochelle’s Ethan Deeds, who was seventh in bull riding, and Sonora’s Avery Wardlaw, who was eighth in pole bending.
The other state champions were Bigfoot’s Enoch Hall (bull riding), Broaddus' Dal Pinner (saddle bronc), Richards’ Meredith Wrobleski (barrel racing), Hillsboro’s Rylie Edens (breakaway roping), Hempstead’s Sadie Patterson (goat tying), Pleasanton’s Kennzie Nixon (pole bending), Decatur’s Treston Brazile (reined cow horse), Flatonia’s Rorry Johnson (steer wrestling), Pattison’s Case Cerny (tie-down roping), Cleburne’s Kash Lloyd (bareback bronc), Boyd’s Taylor Budge (girls cutting) and Amarillo’s Noah Vasquez and Adrian’s Colt Mason (team roping).
