TV and Film Star Tim Curry Dead at 80

HOLLYWOOD — Horror legend and TV actor Tim Curry has passed away.

The actor who brought Stephen King’s "It" to life on television, died at the age of 80, a day after country music legend Dolly Parton passed.

Curry got his break on the stage and screen in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" as Dr. Frank-N-Furter and scared a few generations of children away from storm drains as Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the television adaptation of Stephen King’s "It." 

Curry was also a well-respected film actor playing roles in "Home Alone 2," "Clue," "The Hunt for Red October," and "Muppet Treasure Island" as well as Gomez Addams in "The Addams Family Reunion" and as Darkness in "Legend." He also had voice acting work as Nigel Thornberry in "The Wild Thornberrys" and in the Star Wars show, "The Clone Wars," as Emperor Palpatine.

In 2012, Curry suffered a stroke and utilized a wheelchair for mobility.
