GARDENDALE, TX — Two Big Spring men were arrested Tuesday after Ector County authorities seized about 50 pounds of methamphetamine, 19 firearms and a large amount of U.S. currency during a traffic stop and subsequent search of a residence, according to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 10:44 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop near Marigold Street and FM 554 in Gardendale. Authorities said they recovered about 2 pounds of methamphetamine and a stolen firearm from the vehicle.
The two men in the vehicle were identified as Rogelio Hernandez-Puente and Eder Hernandez-Puente.
Following the traffic stop, investigators obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 5500 block of E. Goldenrod Drive in Gardendale, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said the search yielded an additional 48 pounds of methamphetamine. Multiple firearms recovered from the residence had previously been reported stolen, officials said.
Both men were arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. They face a first-degree felony charge of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and a state jail felony charge of theft of a firearm, according to the sheriff’s office.
Both were being held without bond.
