SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo woman has been arrested after allegedly hitting her common-law husband in the head with a hammer.
Hanna Meyers, 27, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury of a household member.
According to court documents, on Sept. 20, Meyers reported to San Angelo police that she has been assaulted. As the officers were completing this investigation, however, her husband called and wanted to give his statement regarding the incident.
On Sept. 27, the husband contacted San Angelo police officers by telephone to tell them that he had been assaulted by Hanna Meyers. He claimed that he was hit four times in the head with a hammer. The officers arrived at the police station and met with the victim and observed a fresh swollen “knot” consistent with being hit by a hammer.
The investigator arrived at the San Angelo Police Department to speak with the victim, who said he went to church on Sept. 27, then went to his residence he shared with Meyers. He stated Meyers was upset, so he went to grab some items to leave. After arguing with Meyers, he was able to retrieve some items before going into the garage to smoke a cigarette.
While in the garage, the victim stated Meyers came into the garage to get some of her belongings, went up to the victim, and struck him in the head with a hammer.
The investigator went to the residence to meet with Meyers, who did not wish to speak after being read her Miranda Rights. She was placed under arrest and booked into the Tom Green County Jail.
Meyers' bond has been set at $50,000.
