Registered Sex Offender Arrested After 2-day Search

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office arrested registered sex offender Colin Blanek after a two-day search that ended in Brownwood, officials stated Friday.

Deputies and investigators searched for Blanek after three felony warrants were issued for sex offender registration violations. He also failed to appear in court on a motion to revoke and faced additional warrants for indecency with a child by exposure, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Blanek evaded law enforcement in Tom Green County before investigators used "technological sources" to track him to Brownwood, where he was taken into custody.

The arrest closed a two-day search that involved significant investigative resources, the sheriff’s office stated.

“People who believe they can simply disappear to avoid accountability need to understand that our deputies and investigators will continue working to find them,” Sheriff Nick Hanna said. “This case required persistence, investigative work, and coordination, and I appreciate everyone involved in bringing this search to a successful conclusion.”

Blanek was transported to the Tom Green County Detention Center and will face the charges tied to his arrest. The sheriff’s office thanked the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigative Division for their assistance.
