Border Patrol Stops Smuggling Attempt; 22 People Found Under Trailer Floor

CARRIZO SPRINGS, TX — U.S. Border Patrol agents in Carrizo Springs stopped a human smuggling attempt after discovering 22 people crammed into a tiny space underneath the floor of a trailer, the agency’s Del Rio Sector stated Thursday.

The people, described by the agency as illegal aliens, had no easy means of escape, according to a Facebook post from U.S. Border Patrol Del Rio Sector. The post noted soaring summer temperatures at the time of the stop.

Agents released photos showing the concealed compartment under the trailer, the group of people after they were removed, the trailer loaded on a flatbed truck, and the individuals seated on the ground under agency supervision.

The Del Rio Sector post stated the operation showed a callous disregard for human life. No further details on the location of the stop, the condition of those found, charges or the status of any suspected smugglers were immediately available.
