Abilene Man Arrested After Armed Robbery at Subway

 

ABILENE, TX — An Abilene man was arrested Saturday night in connection with an armed robbery at a Subway restaurant.

Officers responded around 1 p.m. Saturday to the Subway at 2810 S. 14th St. in Abilene after receiving a report of a robbery in progress.

According to police, an employee reported that a man entered the restaurant, pointed a weapon at the worker and demanded money. The suspect allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing in a vehicle.

After securing and processing the scene, police officers gathered information about the suspect and the vehicle before launching a search. 

Police said specialized units assisted with the investigation, conducting surveillance and following leads throughout the afternoon and evening.

Investigators arrested 43-year-old Robert A. Stevens around 10 p.m.

Stevens was charged with first-degree felony aggravated robbery and third-degree felony unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He was booked into the Taylor County Jail, where he remained held on bonds totaling $510,000.
