Father Helped Mix Remains in Concrete and Dump Torso in Dumpster, Affidavit Reveals

SAN ANGELO, TX — New details from a police affidavit show that Mario Valdes Troncoso Jr. helped his daughter mix human remains in concrete and dispose of the victim’s torso in a dumpster at an apartment complex where he stayed.

The affidavit, filed Thursday in Tom Green County Justice Court, provides new information on how the 54-year-old assisted after the killing of Roland Matthew Sheppard.

According to the document, Audrey Troncoso called her father for help because the torso was too heavy for her to lift alone. Mario Troncoso arrived at the residence located within the 1400 block of Parker Street, helped load the torso into her vehicle, and placed it inside a dumpster at the Appletree Apartments on Baker Street, where he lives. He also aided in the process of showing Audrey how to mix concrete to submerge and conceal other remains at the residence.

Detectives later found additional body parts in concrete-filled containers inside a red Lincoln Navigator parked at the home. The affidavit states that Mario Troncoso knew about the murder and helped conceal evidence but made no effort to alert law enforcement.

Troncoso is charged with tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at $100,000.
