Suspect Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Sweetwater

 

SWEETWATER, TX — A suspect was fatally shot in an officer-involved shooting early Monday morning in Sweetwater, according to local authorities. 

The Sweetwater Police Department said officers responded to a reported shots-fired call during the early morning hours of June 15. Deputies with the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the response. 

Authorities said officers located a suspect upon arriving at the scene and that additional gunfire was exchanged. The suspect was fatally shot during the incident. No law enforcement officers were injured, officials stated. 

The scene is secure and there is no threat to the public, the department stated. 

The investigation has been turned over to the Texas Rangers, who are conducting an independent investigation. No additional information will be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation, according to the Sweetwater Police Department. 

The identity of the deceased suspect has not been released.
