San Angelo Police Charge 3 With Murder in Recent Shooting

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Three individuals have been charged with murder in connection to last week’s shooting on 44th Street, the San Angelo Police Department announced Thursday.

Zachary Garza, 21, Nikolai Sanchez, 18, and a 16-year-old juvenile have all been arrested.

The three individuals were allegedly involved in a shooting in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 10, that claimed the life of Jaborien Cook, 22, and injured a 17-year-old girl who is expected to recover.

According to police, a social gathering was taking place at a northside residence in the 600 block of East 44th Street when an altercation involving multiple individuals occurred prior to the shooting. 

In addition to Cook and the 17-year-old girl, Garza also suffered a gunshot wound during the incident and was treated at Shannon Medical Center.

Garza was later transported to a Lubbock-area hospital for additional medical treatment.

Garza was arrested following his release from the Lubbock-area hospital and booked into the Lubbock County Jail.

Sanchez was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail in Canyon, while the 16-year-old was arrested and transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center.

Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing.

This is the fifth death this year in San Angelo that has resulted in a murder charge.
