UPDATE: Anson, Clyde City Managers Each Arrested in Last 10 Days

SAN ANGELO, TX — The city managers of two Abilene-area towns have each been arrested in the last 10 days.

The city manager of Anson, Ervin “Sonny” Campbell, was booked into the Taylor County Jail in Abilene on Wednesday.

Campbell was arrested by the Department of Homeland Security and charged with attempted enticement of a minor, according to media reports.

Campbell is accused of soliciting sex from an undercover police officer who was posing as a minor on Facebook marketplace and stated she was 15 years old.

Just 35 miles away in Clyde, the town’s city manager was also arrested Feb. 17 in Austin and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in a prohibited place.

Rodger Wayne Brown resigned from his position Thursday morning. No other details have been released regarding his arrest.
