SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo Central High School was evacuated early this morning shortly after 8 a.m. after receiving a threatening voicemail.
Authorities quickly determined the threat was not credible, and the school resumed its normal schedule the same day.
Parents arrived to pick up their children as some students walked across Harris Avenue away from campus toward the lily pads.
School officials said the voicemail was left on Central High School’s main phone system and did not specifically mention Central. Despite that, San Angelo ISD’s security office evacuated the building out of an abundance of caution.
The San Angelo ISD issued the following statement:
“Central High School received a voicemail containing a threat this morning. The threat did not specifically mention Central High School; however, out of an abundance of caution, all students and staff were safely evacuated.
“The San Angelo Police Department investigated and has determined that this is not a credible threat. Central High School will continue its regular schedule today, with additional law enforcement on campus out of an abundance of caution.
“Student and staff safety remains our top priority and everyone is returning to the building. We appreciate your patience and will provide additional updates as needed.”
