SAN ANGELO, TX — A rider on a moped was taken to the hospital following a crash at the intersection of South Taylor and Live Oak streets Thursday afternoon.
At around 1:45 p.m., San Angelo police officers and other emergency personnel responded to the crash.
Paramedics were tending to the woman riding the moped when our reporter arrived. She had a neck brace put on and was conscious while being placed on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
Police said a two-door BMW was traveling north on South Taylor Street when the driver failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and entered the intersection.
An eastbound moped then struck the BMW, causing the moped rider to be thrown.
The moped driver was taken to Shannon Medical Center for treatment. Police said the extent of the rider's injuries was not immediately known.
The driver of the BMW was evaluated at the scene and refused further medical treatment.
Police also said the driver of the BMW will be cited for failure to yield the right of way.
The crash caused obvious damage to the moped and the BMW's driver-side door.
