SAN ANGELO, TX — A 12-year-old boy was killed Sunday when a utility vehicle rolled over in a field in southern Tom Green County, trapping him underneath, the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday afternoon.
Deputies responded about 4 p.m. to a report of a crash on Roberts Road. They found a 2021 Can-Am utility vehicle that had overturned, with the boy pinned beneath it. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators determined an 11-year-old boy was driving the vehicle on a private dirt road bordering the field. He lost control during a turning maneuver, causing the rollover, the sheriff’s office stated.
The driver was taken to Shannon Medical Center with minor injuries. Wall Volunteer Fire Department members, San Angelo Fire Department personnel and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers also responded to assist.
The investigation remains ongoing.
