FISHER COUNTY, TX — Two men were killed, and one person was injured Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 180 and Farm to Market Road 611, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported.
The crash happened at about 4:20 p.m. under clear weather and dry road conditions. A 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck and a 2024 Ford F-150 pickup truck were approaching the intersection from opposite directions when the driver of the Dodge failed to yield the right of way while turning left into the path of the Ford, troopers reported. The Ford struck the Dodge.
Killed were Elmo Hiram Nowlain, 80, of Valley Mills, the driver of the Dodge, and Andrew Joseph Starr, 39, of Hamilton, a passenger in the same vehicle. Both were not wearing seat belts and were pronounced dead at the scene at 4:20 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Angie Pippin.
Joseph Timothy Shults, 38, of Ropesville, the driver of the Ford, was wearing a seat belt and was taken to Fisher County Hospital with minor injuries.
