22-Year-Old Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle in Big Spring

BIG SPRING, TX — A 22-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning after she was struck by a vehicle on FM 700, according to the Big Spring Police Department.

Police responded about 6:40 a.m. Aug. 13 to the 1600 block of West FM 700, also known as Marcy Drive, following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.

A preliminary investigation determined that Eugene Snellgrove, 63, was driving a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander westbound in the outside lane of FM 700 when Aamiyah Jackson, 22, who was walking eastbound, entered the lane and was struck by the vehicle.

Allegiance EMS personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Jackson was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Angela Griffin. Her next of kin has been notified.

The Mitsubishi’s driver was not injured.

The Texas Department of Public Safety assisted with the investigation, and the Texas Department of Transportation handled traffic control. The crash remains under investigation.
