Brownwood Woman Killed in Golf Cart Rollover

BROWNWOOD, TX — A 62-year-old Brownwood woman was killed Saturday night when the golf cart-style off-highway vehicle she was driving rolled over on a Brown County road, authorities reported.

Laquetta Ann Day died at the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market Road 585, about 8 miles north of the Grosvenor community, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred around 9:01 p.m. on May 23.

Preliminary investigation showed Day was traveling northbound on the wrong side of the road in a no-passing zone when she abruptly steered to the right, causing the 2024 Taizhou Nebula Power Company golf cart-style OHV to overturn in the northbound lane, DPS Sgt. Marc A. Couch reported in a news release.

Day was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. A passerby discovered the golf cart on its driver’s side with Day pinned underneath. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor, DPS said.

The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph. Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry. No one else was injured.

At least once a week one of my neighbors makes his beer run in a cub cadet zero turn mower. Probably has no drivers license. I wonder if she was also on one of those excursions as well.
