One Killed in King County Crash

 

KING COUNTY, TX — A 46-year-old Abilene man was killed Tuesday night in a single-vehicle crash north of Guthrie, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred around 10:23 p.m. on U.S. Highway 83, approximately five miles north of Guthrie.

Authorities identified the driver as Ty Means, who was operating a 2012 Ford F-250 pickup. DPS said Means was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound when it entered a curve, left the roadway and traveled into the west barrow ditch before striking a tree.

Means was pronounced dead at the scene.

Conditions at the time of the crash were reported as clear with dry roadways. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph.

The crash remains under investigation.
