Vehicle Crash Downs Utility Pole, Causes Outage in San Angelo

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — A motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Glenna and Junius streets knocked down a utility pole and triggered a power outage affecting 49 customers Friday evening. 

The San Angelo Police Department issued a public alert shortly after 5 p.m. advising motorists to avoid the area near the soccer fields. AEP Texas reported the outage began at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 13, with restoration estimated by 9:30 p.m. 

Photos from the scene show a damaged SUV that crashed into a broken utility pole with power lines down. Emergency responders, including police and utility workers, were on site assessing the damage and clearing the roadway. 

No information about injuries or the cause of the crash was immediately available.
