Teddy was born in Lubbock, Texas, to William Glenn Rowland and Betty Joyce (nee Williams). He spent most of his life in West Texas, making his home in Big Lake, Texas, where he lived for more than 30 years and built a life centered on family, faith, and hard work.
Teddy worked in the oil field for over three decades, serving as a superintendent. He was proud of his work and the life he built, and those who worked with him knew him as dependable, hardworking, and steady in all things.
More than anything, Teddy was a family man. To those who loved him, he was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a constant presence in their lives. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julia Rowland; his sons, Kevin Gatewood (Denisa), Ryan Williams, Adam Rowland, and Joshua Rowland; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Glenn Rowland and Betty Joyce Rowland; his brother, Donnie Rowland; his daughter, Toyie Hembree; and his grandson, Teddy Rowland.
Teddy will be remembered by his family as a hardworking, stubborn, and deeply loving man. He had a strong presence and an even stronger love for the people in his life. He found joy in the outdoors —especially hunting and fishing — but his greatest happiness came from time spent with family and friends. His storytelling, humor, and kindness will be missed more than words can express.
Faith was a foundation in Teddy’s life. He was a devoted Christian and a believer in Jesus Christ, and his faith carried him through every season of life.
Though he is gone from our sight, Teddy’s legacy lives on in his family, his stories, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A funeral service will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home on July 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM.
