Ernest Cano, 71, passed away on June 13, 2026, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where he resided.
Born on December 19, 1954, in Levelland. Ernest was the son of Janie and Jose Cano. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. A dedicated veteran, Ernest remained active in supporting fellow servicemen and women throughout his life and proudly served as Commander of the local VFW post in San Angelo, Texas.
Following his military service, Ernest dedicated many years to Central High School in San Angelo, where he worked in Information Technology as a computer programmer. He was known for his strong work ethic, commitment to service, and willingness to help others.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Janie and Jose Cano; his brothers, Stanley, Louis, Angel, Daniel, and John Cano; and an infant son.
He is survived by his son, Jason Cano; his brothers, Mark, Joe, and Mike Cano; his sister, Linda Cano; as well as many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
Ernest will be remembered for his service to his country, his leadership within the veteran community, his dedication to his work, and the love he shared with his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
