Louann Benedict Norton, age 78, of Belmont, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
Memorial services are pending at this time. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mrs. Norton was born on June 8, 1948, in El Paso, to James and Agnes Benedict, Louann lived a life defined by love, generosity, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. She had a gift for making everyone feel at home. LouAnn never met a stranger, and her door was always open to anyone who needed a meal, a listening ear, or simply a place to belong. If you were lucky enough to spend time with her, you were guaranteed a warm supper, a hearty laugh, and one of her unforgettable stories or jokes.
Above all else, Louann cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother. Her greatest joy came from gathering the people she loved around her table. Some of her happiest moments were spent at the family farm, cooking for family and friends, listening to music, sharing stories, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Louann had a beautiful appreciation for life and all kinds of music. Whether the radio was playing country, classic rock, or an old favorite, she found joy in it. She had a remarkable ability to make ordinary moments feel special. No one ever left the farm hungry, and no one ever left without a smile, a story, or a joke to carry home with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Agnes Benedict.
She is survived by her loving husband, of 59 years, Henry W. Norton; her children, Natalie Land and husband Gordon of Seguin, Kari Gothard and husband Shane of San Angelo, and Kody Tindol and husband Charlie of San Angelo; and her brother, Joseph Benedict and his wife Dawn of Halletsville. She was the proud grandmother, of Rebecca Trufant and husband Aubrey, Tyler Wright and wife Kaitlyn, Cole James Harris and Bailey, Jake Wright and Taylor, and Darla Campbell. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Haysleigh Jo Wright, Ryder Wright, and Kolter Wright, who brought immeasurable joy to her life.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, caregivers, and medical professionals who provided comfort, care, and compassion during Louann's final days.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind. Louann's legacy of faith, love, strength, laughter, and hospitality will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her table may now be empty, but the love she shared around it will remain with her family forever.
