The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts invites the public to the opening reception for the 26th San Angelo North American Ceramic Competition exhibit, a juried exhibition featuring selected works by ceramic artists from across North America. SAMFA's opening reception will take place in the Grand Hall of the museum on Friday, April 17, from 5:30–8 PM. Refreshments will be provided, and this reception is free and open to the public.
The exhibition showcases a diverse range of ceramics, including both functional and/or sculptural works. This year's competition is juried by Linda Ganstrom, a prominent figurative ceramic artist since 1986. The exhibit will feature the work of invited artist Marc Leuthold, whose pieces will be highlighted alongside accepted works from this year's competition. Leuthold will also lead an all-day ceramic workshop as part of the competition's opening week events.
Opening week events will take place April 15–18. A full schedule of events, links to registration for ticketed workshops, and more information about opening week can be found on our website at www.samfa.org/ceramic-competition. Opening week events are hosted by the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, Angelo State University, the Chicken Farm Art Center, Art Spirit Collective, and Art in Uncommon Places.
The 26th San Angelo North American Ceramic Competition is generously sponsored by San Angelo Museum Endowment for Ceramic Events, Texas Commission on the Arts, and John Williams.
